SO2 external forcing for CESM2.1.1 (B1850) - pre-industrial conditions

Hi,

Could someone confirm whether the SO2 external forcing (emissions-cmip6_SO2) includes both volcanic continuous (degassing) and explosive (eruptions) SO2 emissions?

B1850 is a CAM compset. CAM does not include prognostic volcanic eruptions because it does not have interactive OH chemistry. So SO2 emissions in B1850 do not include explosive eruptions. Instead, stratospheric aerosol is prescribed from the output of WACCM simulations.

B1850 does include the external forcing file below for SO2 from continuously degassing volcanoes:

SO2 -> /glade/p/cesmdata/cseg/inputdata/atm/cam/chem/emis/CMIP6_emissions_1750_2015/emissions-cmip6_SO2_contvolcano_vertical_850-5000_0.9x1.25_c20170724.nc
