What's the strict definitions of evspsbl and hfls, and what's the difference between them?

Hi all,

I'm working on calculating the net precipitation (the difference between precipitation and evapotranspiration) of Multi-model Large Ensemble Archive. By my understanding, the evspsbl is Evaporation Including Sublimation and Transpiration and is the evapotranspiration I need. However, because some models only provide the hfls (Surface Upward Latent Heat Flux), I'm thinking could I simply calculate the evapotranspiration by using hfls / (the latent heat of evaporation)?

Could some please explain about how does CMIP models calculate the evspsbl and hfls? And what's their differences and relations?

Thank you so much for all your help!
