dynamic ocean model in aquaplanet mode, on user_defined cartesian grid?

Hi,

I would like to run CESM1.2.1, configured with POP2 in an aquaplanet mode (i.e. no land).  I would also like that the ocean grid to match the atmosphere grid, no offset pole!  Before embarking on this project, I was wondering if anyone at NCAR has experience with this sort of model configuration.  Any tips, information, or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Note, I am very familar running aquaplanet simulations that utilize the thermodynamic slab ocean model, both with and without the sea ice module activitated.  This was achieved using the user_defined "E" compsets.

Thanks,

Eric

I have heard rumor that there is a similar configuration that has been hacked together. If I remember, though, the POP grid wasn't changed to match the atmosphere. In that case, I think that there are "stick continents" at the poles to avoid crashes (like John Marshall's configuration of MITgcm uses). I'll PM you with some contact info.
