I added an additional passive tracer in the ecosystem model component of POP2, i.e., ecosys_mod.F90. For this I used the autotroph variables as template. I introduced a new module with the parameter values needed for the calculation and used ecosys_parms.F90 as template. My newly created variable is saved in the tavg output file, but unfortunately the variable exceeds the memory and quickly evolves to converge to infinity and/or Nan which to my opinion happens during the time averaging process. In the output file the variable shows up but with no values or better to say just with missing values.
I had a look into the initialization, checked the underlying equations and tried different ways for the implementation but I couldn't solve the problem.
I'm more or less a newbie working with the BEC model and/or CESM therefore any hints why TRACER_MODULE_CUR(:,:,k,new_tracer_ind) converges to infinity/Nan would be highly appreciated. I don't see what I'm missing anymore.
