Why does time series for different atmospheric forcing produces similar behavior?

I am performing a series of simulations with CLM where I take a single land tile in the Amazon with set initial conditions and am running a series of different atmospheric forcings on it to see differences in results. The atmospheric forcing has no seasonality, and it is a one-way interaction--the atmospheric forcing is not affected by the land tile.

The type of atmospheric forcing is from CAM without superparameterization (SP), and CAM with SP. I am looking at variables sich as GPP, Albedo, NEE, Total ecosystem carbon, etc. After an initial period of being in the same range since the initial conditions are identical, the time series' for the different forcings separate into different ranges. But, even though they are in different ranges of values, they incresae and decrease by about the same amounts at every time step. As in, if you plot each time series on the same plot, they look almost like the exact same line, just shifted up or down on the y-axis depending on if it is forcing with SP or forcing without SP.

What is the reason for this? When I looked at the land tile domain file, there wasn't any kind of significant seasonality that I saw. I've run hundreds of simulations and the results are almost always the same--I get the same "line", but it is shifted slightly on the y axis depending on if it is SP or non-SP. I just don't know why the time series would look the same even though they are in different ranges and the atmospheric forcings are different.

 

The caseset is I_2000_CN, the caseres is 1.9x2.5_1.9x2.5 (but I am examining just a single land tile in the Amazon with 96% of it being a single vegetative type), and I am running CESM1.2.2 with CLM4.0.

I'm really bewildered and am not sure why this is happening. Any help from the community would be extremely appreciated.
