0.5 and 0.25 degree resolution simulations in CAM5 with GEOS5 meteorology

Hello all,  I am trying to run some experiments in cesm1.2.2 with the user defined compset with prescribed GEOS5 meteorology at f05_f05 and f02_f02 resolution. However, the simulations are crashing since it requires initial conditions and topo files at respective resolutions. But, both these files are not available in cesm data repository i.e. for 0.5 as well as 0.25 degree resolution. If anyone has those files or clue on how to prepare these files then please assist me on it.Also it will be very helpful if any one could provide some inputs on dust tuning factor and how it gets processed within the model. Thank you for the help!

Hi Amit,GEOS5 and MERRA2 meteorology is  currently only processed for 0.5 degree resolution. GEOS5 data start in 2004, while MERRA2 starts in 1980.For CAM FV, you can use this IC file:/glade/p/cesmdata/cseg/inputdata/atm/cam/inic/fv/cami-mam3_0000-01-01_0.47x0.63_L30_c100929.ncYou are required to spin up (maybe 1 year) to make sure it will work with your start date. The topo file is added to /glade/p/cesmdata/cseg/inputdata/atm/cam/topo called fv_0.47x0.63_nc3000_Co030_Fi001_PF_nullRR_Nsw021_geos5_20171024.ncThe dust_emis_fact  may have to be adjusted if AOD from dust has changed.Simone

Hi Simone,Thanks for the reply. I found the IC file for the CAM FV in cesm svn repository, but i couldn't found the topo file"fv_0.47x0.63_nc3000_Co030_Fi001_PF_nullRR_Nsw021_geos5_20171024.nc"in svn repository path: /trunk/inputdata/atm/cam/topo. I really appriciate your help if you could provide the data. Thanks -Amit
