Hello,
I am learning how to use CESM2 by following the tutorial on our website. There is an exercise that asks to reduce the snow albedoes in the ice model by half. The instruction says that you should change user_nl_cice like this:
albsnowi = 0.36
albsnowv = 0.49
shortwave = ‘default’
And a hint says that "shortwave = ‘default’ activates these albedos".
My question is, if I were new to the model, I would not know that I should also change the parameter "shortwave" to activate the other changes I made. So how can I know these additional changes that are needed for the experiment (e.g. shortwave ), in addition to these changes that are explicitly associated with the experiment (e.g. albsnowi, and albsnowv )?
Thank you very much!!!
Best
Eric
