Hello, I am using the compset "IHistClm50BgcCrop", now, I wanna do a sensitivity analysis experiment about the effect of phenology (dynamic vegetation) in CLM5. If I want to control the phenology, should I set the “ do_transient_pfts=.false.” in user_nl_clm, or I choose another SP compset such as IHistClm50Sp?

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Any suggestions to answer the question will be really helpful!

Thank you.

Setting "do_transient_pfts=.false." will turn off the plant functional type transient aspect of the IHistClm50BgcCrop compset. In other words, there will be no changes in the plant functional type composition (fractions) within a given grid cell. However, the leaf and stem area index of these plant functional types will continue to respond to environmental and nutrient factors. In the IHistClm50Sp compset the leaf and stem area index are prescribed by satellite data and the composition of the plant functional types will change over time as prescribed by the landuse dataset.

Thanks for your reply, Mr. Oleson.
What is the time interval of satellite data and landuse in IHistClm50Sp compset? If I wanna control the phenology effect, how should I do?

Looking forward to your reply.
I appreciate it
Mike
