Hello everyone, I am currently using the CESM 2.2 version and would like to know if I can use the historical data from the CESM 2.1 branch with CESM 2.2. I have retrieved the data on Globus as shown in the following figure.

I would like to ask if I can use CESM 2.2 with the restart file named "b.e21.BHIST.f09_g17.CMIP6-historical.001.rest.1980-01-01-00000" to conduct an experiment, and whether this experiment is an official one?
Thank you.

Hi,

I am not sure if the 2.1 restart file will work with CESM2.2, so the best I can say is to try it and see what happens.

As for whether it is an "official" experiment, you can see which compset/resolution combinations are scientifically supported by looking in $CESM/cime_config/config_compsets.xml, searching for the compset you are running, and seeing if the resolution you are using has a "science_support" tag.
