AMWG 5.6

When we run diag121205.csh (amwg diagnostics release 5.6), we get lots of errors ="fatal:Either file (inptr) isn't defined or variable
(SRFRAD) is not a variable in the file". We don't have SRFRAD in our history files because it was discontinued in version cam5_2_08:
http://www.cgd.ucar.edu/cgi-bin/cms/ncar_only/view_change_file.cgi?ChangeLog... but this isn't the problem. The error originates from the function
get_FLDS in functions_surfaces.ncl and is triggered by FLDS not being found in outptr = _ANN_plotvars.nc. It is true that FLDS isn't in
this file, but it is in the climo file. Why isn't get_FLDS grabbing data from the climo file instead of the plotvars file (which we understand to
contain *outputs* from the diagnostics)? Where should FLDS have been added to the plotvars file?
Note that running diagnostics version 5.5 has the same SRFRAD issues.  Below is the output from the first occurence.SET 1 TABLES OF MEANS, DIFFS, RMSES

This was changed on the AMWG diag developper trunk but it hasn't made its way to the AMWG diag release trunk.
If you have access to the developper trunk, please get
https://svn-ccsm-models.cgd.ucar.edu/tools/proc_atm/amwg_diagnostics/trunk_tags/amwg_diag_20131004/Otherwise, we will be releasing the new version very soon.

There seems to be a new issue that surfaced when doing a model-model
comparison.
Here's the output. diag131004.csh simply hangs.
Thanks

Hi Jim,

I cannot reproduce your problem even using the exact same files as you.
I can create climo and run diags with your files without any problem.

I have 2 suggestions:

- Please could try to start over cleaning the directory "climo" and
"diag" directroy for both cases. Maybe there is a corrupted file
somewhere ?

- Which version of ncl are you using ? Please check you are using "NCAR
Command Language Version 6.1.2"
You can just type: ncl -v
