cam5 mam3 het rate missing

Hi all~The CESM version I employ at present is CESM1.2.0. Since there is no supported component set I need, I have defined my own component set GEOS_CAM5%MOZM_CLM40%SP_CICE%PRES_DOCN%DOM_RTM_SGLC_SWAV, to use GEOS5 nudging, CMA5.1 physics, data ocean and mam3  aerosol
But the error message in log file is --------------------------------------(shr_sys_abort) ERROR: sethet: het_rates (wet dep) not set for het reaction number :  28(shr_sys_abort) WARNING: calling shr_mpi_abort() and stopping
It seems a het_rate is missing. How can I fix this problem?I'd appreciate your help.                               Joy

Hi Joy,we do have a compset in CESM1.2.0 that uses the tropospheric chemistry mechanism (MOZ), and CAM5 atmosphere, called F_2000_MOZMAM_CN. You can start from this compset and then add changes to run with  GEOS5 meteorology, requiring changes of the namelist, and changes of env_build.xml (see other comments: https://bb.cgd.ucar.edu/how-run-line-meteorology-cam5 ). However, this version is not scientifically validated and therefore I would recommend F_2000_STRATMAM3_CN for your studies instead and adjust to run with specified dynamics. Also note, running with MERRA requires a different topo file than running with GEOS5.Simone

Dear Simone,Thanks for you relpy.I have tried the  F_2000_STRATMAM3_CN, and adjusted to run with specific dynamics . But the errors occured as follows. It seems like the model has 56 levels and a file has only 30 levels. But I have no idea which file is wrong.---------------------------------------- Opened existing file /home/joyxu/input_fsdbam/atm/cam/met/USGS-gtopo30_1.9x2.5_phys_geos5_c100929.nc            10 hycoef_read: ERROR: file lev does not match model. lev (file, model):           30           56(shr_sys_abort) ERROR: hycoef_read: ERROR: file lev does not match model.(shr_sys_abort) WARNING: calling shr_mpi_abort() and stopping-------------------------------------------------------------------------
And I have also tried GEOS_CAM5%SMA3_CLM40%SP_CICE%PRES_DOCN%DOM_RTM_SGLC_SWAV in cesm1.2.0, which is supported in CESM1.2.2 as FSDSMAM.   After succeeded running 6 simulate days, it crashed by the following error message:---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------QNEG3 from chemistry/SO2:m=126 lat/lchnk=    763 Min. mixing ratio violated at    2 points.  Reset to  1.0E-36 Worst =-5.5E-11 at i,k=   9 27QNEG3 from vertical diffusion/H2O2:m= 27 lat/lchnk=    907 Min. mixing ratio violated at    1 points.  Reset to  1.0E-36 Worst =-1.4E-12 at i,k=  10 30-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Dose it means that the above two compnents that defiend by my own is not scientifically validated in version 1.2.0, or the problems are easy to fix? or I have to update to CESM1.2.2? I'd appreciate your help.                          Joy
