CESM with variable resolution capability publicly available?

Hi everyone,

I came across researches from time to time utilizing CESM with variable resolution. Is it a hidden jewel somewhere within the CESM public release, or is there such a publicly available branch I can look at?

Hi Wade,

There are several variable resolution grids available in the CESM2.2.0 release. None of them are scientifically supported.

ne0CONUSne30x8_g17
ne0CONUSne30x8_ne0CONUSne30x8_mg17 (only for compsets that are not _POP )
ne0CONUSne30x8_ne0CONUSne30x8_mt12 (only for compsets that are not _POP )
ne0ARCTICne30x4_ne0ARCTICne30x4_mt12 (only for compsets that are not _POP )
ne0ARCTICGRISne30x8_ne0ARCTICGRISne30x8_mt12 (only for compsets that are not _POP )

Additionally, do you have any materials that may describe such configurations, either in 2.2.0 or 1.2.2?

The three var-res grids that Chris mentioned are "developmental compsets," released as a part of cesm2.2.0. Documentation can be found here:
