CESM1.2.1 compilers on Red Hat 7

Hello, I am trying to port cesm1.2.1 to a user defined machine, but I ran into a problem while compiling the test case. The linux system is Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 7.6 (Maipo), x86_64. The compiler I am using currently is mvapich2/2.3. I got an error message during case building process, which says: configure: error: C compiler cannot create executables So, could I ask which compiler should I use for Red Hat 7. Thank you so much! Best, Melody
