CESM1.2.2 marginal seas (Caspian) hydrologic cycle SImulation (past 150years)

I would like to understand more on how the hydrological cycle, (especially how the model works for the caspian sea precipitation and evaporation) is closed in marginal seas. i understand the RTM was developed to route total runoff from the land surface model to either the active ocean or marginal seas which enables the hydrologic cycle to be closed, but if i want to quantify the caspian sea level changes, which output parameters should i look at from either the CLM or ocean outputs? I would like to compare the caspian sea levels over the past 150years, also the P-E as well as understand how the model computes the Caspian hydrological cycle.I would deeply appreciate if anyone could advice me/direct to existing literature where the model was successfully used for understanding the marginal seas like Caspian/Black sea runoff, Precipitation minus evaporation and if experiments have been conducted to account/add changing size of sealevel flacuations? THank you
