CESM1_0_5 issues

Hi,

I have a couple of questions regarding running CAM4.0 as a standalone case (F) using CESM1_0_5.

1. Where exactly should one be logged on to run CESM1_0_5? I could not create a new case being logged on yellowstone but could when i was logged on mirage.
2. Where exactly should the CESM1_0_5 be downloaded to work on, /glade/u/home/username or /glade/p/work/username?
3. Also, building a case and the steps further need the /ptmp directory, which no longer exists, how is this to be accommodated?
4. Which -mach should I ideally work on now? can bluefire still be accessed? or should yellowstone be used?

May I also kindly ask where might I find documentations for things such as above, if there are any?

Thanks,
Abheera

You should be able to create a case on yellowstone, please provide the command you tried to run and the resulting output.

You could download to either location or you could use the copy in $CESMDATAROOT/collections/cesm1_0_5 - keep in mind that your home directory has limited space but is backed up while /glade/p/work has much more space available but is not backed up.

Building a case and the steps further should not require /ptmp, again what steps are you taking in your build process?

-mach is yellowstone to build on yellowstone.

Hi,

I need to know one more thing. I have been trying to make a few branch runs, using CESM1_0_5, however the restart/branch files (rpointer* and *.nc) are all from a previous run I had made on bluefire (which I had used for branch runs on bluefire and they all worked fine). I think it should not matter, but each time I try using these restart files for the branch runs on yellowstone, the run exits with no error messages, I checked the stderr files, nothing is on it, but the runs exit each time. Would it be possible to know what might be happening?

Thanks,
Abheera
