Change latent heat flux at a specific region

Hi all,I am using CCSM4 to do my research. I used F component. The problem I have is that I need to change the latent heat flux (at the air-sea interface) over a specific region. At first I modify the code shr_flux_mod.F90 which calculate the heat flux. However, the calculation is based on chuncks. I cannot locate the region. Then I modify the code models/atm/cam/src/cpl_mct/atm_comp_mct.F90. Now the latent heat flux is changed over the region I defined, but other variables, such as geopotential height, are not changed accordingly. It seems that the model does not know the changes I made. I was wondering that is there any way to solve this problem? Any suggestion is appreciated.Thanks in advance.
