What version of the code are you using?
cesm2_3_beta17

Have you made any changes to files in the source tree?
A new module developed in CLM and is ready to be coupled with CAM

Describe every step you took leading up to the problem:

Describe your problem or question:

Hi,
I am new to CAM-chem and not very familiar with the code structure, so I am seeking help here! Any instructions are welcome.

I have two questions about the emission
(1) Does the CAM use the wetland CH4 emission from the CLM? If so, how can I turn it on or off?
(2) I want to change the NH3 emission because my model can simulate the real-time NH3, NOx emission from the CLM. Where can I find this part code to change it? For example, I don't know where the CAM reads the NH3/NOx emission.

thank you

Hi Jinmu,

In case you haven't found it, the Chemistry Modeling Wiki is here: Home - CAM-Chem - wiki.ucar.edu
Additionally, tutorial material is here: Atmospheric chemistry — CESM Tutorial

In answer to your questions:
(1) Methane is a prescribed field in CAM-chem by default and is not emitted. It is currently prescribed as latitudinal averages. Methane emissions the model is a long-term goal, and it is difficult to get correct.
(2) You can change emissions in the model by changing the namelist for the emissions you want to replace in the user_nl_cam
See the wiki page: Change emissions input - CAM-Chem - wiki.ucar.edu

Hope that helps!
Best,
Rebecca
