Describe your problem or question:
I am looking to start a Hybrid run from the CMIP6 piControl restart files for 1901-01-01. For my experiment, I want to change this run from having interactive sea ice to prescribed sea ice from a file I have edited. For example, I took the output of the piControl run b.e21.B1850.f09_g17.CMIP6-piControl.001 and edited the summer sea ice thickness, snow thickness, and ice area fields. What I am confused on is the format this prescribed ice data should be in and where in the source tree (or elsewhere) it should be placed.

I have no issue with ./create_newcase from the B1850 run and editing the hybrid run to initialize with b.e21.B1850.f09_g17.CMIP6-piControl.001 restarts. I just am unsure where to go with my edited sea ice fields. Thank you in advance for the help! I am teaching myself CESM2 :)

You are trying to do prescribed ice in a B compset? This is not supported and really not recommended. The ice concentration and ocean SST will be out of sync and you will not get the expected results. I would instead recommend an F compset with prescribed ice concentration and SST.
