CLM land Topography

Hello all,

I am currently doing a series of experiments using CESM 1.0.1 using the E1850CN compset at the f19_g16 resolution. Upon completion of my first run I noticed very homogenous precipitation throughout the majority of Alaska. When I looked at the topography that was output in the clm NetCDF data files I noticed that there was essentially no topography in the model. I didn't try to use any alternate files for topography, I simply tried to run the model out of the box... I would have assumed that the model would have failed to run if I had been missing the required topography file. I looked in my clm-namelist and I see that neither flndtopo nor fatmtopo are included, should one of these be included in my clm namelist if I am running the default E1850CN simulation?

Thanks,
-Erik

Erik,

CLM's processes are not affected by topography. Therefore, CLM does not include a topography file as input.

Topography affects processes in CAM, so CAM includes such a file as input. Please post relevant questions on CAM discussion threads, in case somebody is able to help you.
