combine som and dom

Hi, I am trying to combine dom and som in such a way that
observed SST is specified in specific regions and slab
ocean model is used for the other regions.

If anybody has done this already and willing to share
the coding, I will greatly appreciate. I will also appreciate
any suggestions as to how to implement this.

Thank you.

I would suggest running with the SOM everywhere and then hard wiring SST in the regions where you want the SST to be fixed. You may come across issues at the interface between SOM regions and fixed SST, as the SST may become
significantly discontinuous. In this case you will need transition regions where the SOM SST is relaxed to the nearby fixed SST

Digging out this old thread, I wanted to ask if the option of prescribing SST only in a certain region has been implemented in the newer releases of the SOM model?
Thanks!
