Compairing results from different CCSM3 runs

I am currently working on a comparison study on several GCMs including CCSM3. I would like to compare data from the 2xCO2 equilibrium run to an according control run with present day or pre-industrial CO2 concentrations.

Which of the different runs would you suggest to use for such a comparison considering differences in initializing the runs?

Thank you for a short response.

The 2XCO2 CCSM run isn't a branch from a control run, it's an initial run. The two basic controls for CCSM are cases "b30.009" (present-day) and the "b30.020.ES01" and "b30.020.ES02" runs (pre-industrial).
