Hi, I was running offline CLM5 test cases using ctsm5.1.dev118 at the CONUS scale with 1/8 degree resolution. Models ran out of memory when set up the initial condition using the default finidat (e.g.,inputdata/lnd/clm2/initdata_map/clmi.I1850Clm50BgcCrop-ciso.1366-01-01.0.9x1.25_gx1v7_simyr1850_c200428.nc).
These models were able to run successfully with a cold start, or with the restart file from the cold start simulation.
So I am wondering whether the initial condition generated from older versions of CLM does not work in recent ctsm5.1.dev version, and whether the initial condition generated from the ctsm5.1.dev118 does not work in release CESM2.2.0, as this was the case in my simulation.

Thank you very much.

If you ran out of memory, you likely need to give it more processors to run with as memory scales with processors. If you were able to run from a coldstart that means there's enough memory to run with, but not to do the interpolation from the initial conditions provided. This part of the process can be processor and memory intensive, so you probably should just try again with a higher number of tasks for the land model. The number of tasks is shown in your case when you run the "pelayout" script in your case directory.

Thank you very much, Erik. Increasing the number of tasks for the land model solved the out of memory issue!
