Disable CHM in F1850CNCHM?

Hi folks,

I am interested in running CESM with cam/clm starting at 1850 With the Carbon-Nitrogen model (A.K.A. F_1850_CN). However I notice that there is only a F_1850_CN_CHM in the compset that you have provided. Is there a way to simply turn this extra chemistry off rather than create a whole new compset?

Also, I just want to use the prescribed ocn not the slab ocn which is why I am not simply using the E_1850_CN. I suppose I like to make things difficult. Any suggests here are certainly appreciated.

Cheers,
Erik

You could start from F_1850_CN_CHM and turn off the chemistry as you suggest. It's slighty more direct to start from F_1850 and turn on the CN. After you execute the create_newcase command for compset F_1850 you'd cd into the case directory and execute the command

./xmlchange -file env_conf.xml -id CLM_CONFIG_OPTS -val "-bgc cn"

Hi, I would like to run F_1850_CN as you suggested. After we turn on the carbon-nitrogen cycle, do we need to spin up the model? http://www.cesm.ucar.edu/models/ccsm4.0/clm/models/lnd/clm/doc/UsersGuide/x2471.html Best,Lei
