Dynamical vegetation in initial conditions

Hi Nan! I have a new question related to the creation of initial conditions for paleo glaciaitions. What we have done together is to compute iniital conditions prescribing ice sheets over the landbut using Pre-industrial vegetation cover as basis for CLM. Now, what if I would like to compute vegetation dynamically? Can I use the same procedureas we did for MIS6? What are the changes to be introduced in the mksurf scripts? Cheers Flo

Sorry, I am confused, so I have several questions:
  1. Is this another MIS6 simulation (with a new version of cesm?)  How is this simulation different?
  2. Does your current run (the one you are running with the large ice volumes) have CN turned on?  If not, then you first have to turn CN on and spin up the carbon pools according to the spinup instructions in the clm users guide.
  3. Alternatively, did you run CLM-CN and/or CNDV (dyn veg) on your previous MIS6 simulation such that you already have a spunup CN initial condition for MIS6?
  4. If you have spunup initial conditions from your previous MIS6 simulation, you may be able to use them as initial conditions for this simulation.
  5. If initial conditions exist from a previous run, but won't run in your current simulation, interpinc may help.
  6. You don't need to change any mksurf scripts for cndv.
Let me know if this helps, or raises more questions.
