emissions from continuously outgassing volcanoes

Hi all,
Can someone throw light on emissions from continuously outgassing volcanoes? In the file for example-

emissions-cmip6_so4_a2_contvolcano_vertical_850-5000_0.9x1.25_c20170724.nc

there is also a variable PS =surface pressure besides contvolacno emissions (emissions from continuously outgassing volcanoes).
Does the model read this PS or its own generated/specified dynamics PS?
I am manipulating this file for contvolcano variable but i don't know if i should bother to do any manipulation on PS from this file?
If the model doesnt bother with the PS variable in this file i won't have to manipulate PS values in this file.(Between i am using specified dynamics compset.)
Any idea and suggestions are welcome!
