Dear scientists,

I am new to CLM and recently I want to run a regional case (the Chinese Loess Plateau) using my own atmospheric forcing data and surface data. But there is a question bothering me for a long time that how I can create my own surface data using my prepared soil, landuse and GLASS LAI datasets. Through the DiscussCESM Forums I noticed that there is a set of CLM land data tool, which can generate the "raw" input data and it seems that I should ask for your help. Could you please provide me with the tools mentioned above? I emailed Mr. Lawrence for serval times but didn't receive any response. So I want to seek help here.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

In ctsm versions 5.1 and older, you have access to the mksurfdata_map tool with the code that you checked out. You will find documentation in this chapter of the CLM5.0 User's Guide:

This tool uses "raw" datasets as inputs to generate surface datasets (fsurdat files). We do not provide tools for generating the "raw" datasets.

A new version of mksurfdata will become available with versions 5.2 and newer.
