ERROR: BUILD FAIL: buildexe failed

I'm working on CESM 2.1.5 on a new machine. I followed the steps for the /.cime/config_machines.xml
I started with a tutorial case. I got successfully on ./case.setup. But when it goes to ./case.build, it stopped at the very last step.
The main error is "ERROR: Command make exec_se -j 8 EXEC_SE=/home/pwang/CESM/cases/b.day1.0/bld/cesm.exe MODEL=driver LIBROOT=/home/pwang/CESM/cases/b.day1.0/bld/lib -f /home/pwang/CESM/cases/b.day1.0/Tools/Makefile failed rc=2"

My machine is Intel with openmpi. It is not big server, so the batch system is none. I don't need to use mpirun or etc to submit the job. But I don't know if my config_machines.xml has any issues for generating cesm.exe

I've attached the config_machines.xml, case.build.log and the error from cesm.bldlog.250319-032702

Please let me know how to fix it. Thank you!

Hi there, I'm still not seeing any attached files. We will need more info like the bldlog to see what's going on. Also, it would be helpful to know the name and type of machine you are porting to. I'm going to move this thread to the porting forum to see if you can get specific help there.
