Hi, I received this error message, and I cannot understand what does this mean.

37:cesm.exe: malloc.c:2399: sysmalloc: Assertion `(old_top == (((mbinptr) (((char *) &((av)->bins[((1) - 1) * 2])) - __builtin_offsetof (struct malloc_chunk, fd)))) && old_size == 0) || ((unsigned long) (old_size) >= (unsigned long)((((__builtin_offsetof (struct malloc_chunk, fd_nextsize))+((2 *(sizeof(size_t))) - 1)) & ~((2 *(sizeof(size_t))) - 1))) && ((old_top)->size & 0x1) && ((unsigned long) old_end & (pagesize - 1)) == 0)' failed.
MPT: Received signal 15

I attached the cesm.log

Your post says you have attached cesm.log, but I don't see the attachment. could you please reply with the log file? Also, what version of the model are you running?

Hello, sorry seems like the log file is too large to be uploaded. But I think what I copied here should be the problem. I am running ctsm5.1.dev098

@jiamengl I suspect that the problem isn't really in the details of the error for malloc -- as much as it is just saying that you ran out of memory. So how big is the resolution you are running and how many processors are you using? You might need to increase the number of tasks you are running for your case.

Thanks! I recreated a case and it succeed. I guess the memory assigned to the previous case is not sufficient.
