Failed to build clm4_5_18_r257

Hi

I downloaded the codes of clm4_5_18_r257 by using git clone from ESCOMP/CTSM github page ESCOMP/CTSM
to cheyenne. I typed create_newcase, case.setup and case.build in order. However, it failed to build the cesm.exe.

The resolution and compset are as following

Pes setting: grid match is l%0.9x1.25
Pes setting: machine match is cheyenne
Pes setting: grid is a%0.9x1.25_l%0.9x1.25_oi%null_r%r05_g%null_w%null_m%gx1v7
Pes setting: compset is 2000_DATM%GSWP3v1_CLM45%BGC-CROP_SICE_SOCN_RTM_SGLC_SWAV
Components in compset are: ['datm', 'clm', 'sice', 'socn', 'rtm', 'sglc', 'swav', 'sesp', 'drv', 'dart']

Here are warnings and error occuring in the process

1) After ./create_newcase
WARNING: No cesm Model version found.
ERROR: Did not find CPLHIST in valid values for DATM_MODE: ['CORE2_NYF', 'CORE2_IAF', 'CLM_QIAN', 'CLM_QIAN_WISO', 'CLM1PT', 'CLMCRUNCEP', 'CLMCRUNCEPv7', 'CLMGSWP3v1', 'CPLHISTForcing']
ERROR: No variable DATM_CPLHIST_DOMAIN_FILE found in case

2) ./case.setup without WARNING or ERROR

3) After ./case.build
ERROR: BUILD FAIL: buildexe failed.
The error recorded in the cesm.bldlog.200513-184740 is

ERROR: Command gmake exec_se -j 8 EXEC_SE=/glade/scratch/huoxl/ctsm/clm4.5.18_f09_assim_inf_th6updatehist_LAI_e60/bld/cesm.exe MODEL=driver LIBROOT=/glade/scratch/huoxl/ctsm/clm4.5.18_f09_assim_inf_th6updatehist_LAI_e60/bld/lib -f /glade/work/huoxl/cases/ctsm/clm4.5.18_f09_assim_inf_th6updatehist_LAI_e60/Tools/Makefile failed rc=2

Any clue that helps to fix the failure ?

I don't think clm4_5_18_r257 exists. There is a clm4_5_16_r257...

Note that tags prior to clm4_5_18_r273 that are cloned from the github repository will not run (they are included only for historical reference).
