Finite Volume with Idealized Physics

Hi everyone,

We've been having trouble getting the finite volume dynamical core to work in the idealized physics regime. The model does run. It is not producing results consistent, however, with those of the other dynamical cores provided with CAM 3.1. Has anyone else encountered such problems before? We're fairly confused.

Thanks!

CSEG and Liaisons
The idealized physics is broken for the FV core in cam3.1. Notice in fv/stepon.F90 that there is no call to the phys_idealized subroutine which calculates the ideal physics forcings. The appropriate call would need to be added and the tendencies need to be properly applied to the state in p_d_coupling. It might be straightforward, or there may be subtle problems due to the special logic in the dp_coupling code for adiabatic and full physics options.
