fixed GHG runs

Once I've set namelist variable SCENARIO_GHG to 'FIXED', is there a way to specify the year for which GHG concentrations are fixed?

I understand that I can set the *VMR variables separately, but it would be more helpful to simply select a year and have the model "figure it out" from the GHG dataset. Also, it seems that the GHG dataset (atm/cam/ggas/ghg_1870_2100_c040122.nc) contains concentrations for gases in addition to those that can be specified with the *VMR namelist variables. Are these additional concentrations actually used by CAM?
