forcing files used in branch case

Dear all,

I have a question about how forcing files are used when I branch the case.

I am running a case with I2000Clm50SpGs compset, and the forcing files loop from 1991.01 to 2010.12. Suppose I have run the case for 70 years. Then, if I branch the case using the 70th year restart file and ran another 4 years. I am wondering, for the last 4 years, the forcing files used are from 1991.01-1994.12 or from 2001.01 to 2004.12?

If it's a branch, it should just pick up from where it left off. The 70th year should have used year 2000 forcing, so the next 4 years should use 2001-2004. But check your atm log files to verify this.

Checking the atm log file is very straightforward. I found that when I2000 compset is used, the forcing data start from 2001 and loop from 1991 to 2010. Therefore the 70th year run uses 2010 forcing and the next four years use 1991-1994 forcing.

Ok, I had assumed that you had lined up your first year of the model run (1) with the first year of forcing (1991).
You can control this with these settings in env_run.xml:
"DATM_CLMNCEP_YR_ALIGN"
"DATM_CLMNCEP_YR_START"
"DATM_CLMNCEP_YR_END"
