FWHIST input question

I am new to the CESM model and have been trying to run the FWHIST simulation starting from 1850. I could only find a preindustrial initial condition (FW1850) or FWHIST starting from 1979. If I were to run an experiment with historical SST prescribed starting from 1850 till the recent year (as much as I can), which one I have to use? Also, if I set the model to start from 1850, does CESM (currently CESM 2.1.5) automatically apply the prescribed SST? If not, what is the available period for the FWHIST? I am confused about the initial condition and available SST data. Thank you!

I realized CESM automatically chooses the initial file.
"/glade/campaign/cesm/cesmdata/inputdata/cesm2_init/b.e21.BWHIST.f09_g17.CMIP6-historical-WACCM.001/1950-01-01/b.e21.BWHIST.f09_g17.CMIP6-historical-WACCM.001.cam.i.1950-01-01-00000.nc"
However, I do not understand why this file is chosen although the compset is FWHIST and I set the start date as Jan 1st, 1850. Will there be no issues with this?
