Hi,

I find the rawdata of vegetation type used to make the surface dataset has the resolution of 0.25x0.25
mksrf_fvegtyp = '/glade/p/cesm/cseg/inputdata/lnd/clm2/rawdata/pftcftdynharv.0.25x0.25.LUH2.histsimyr1850-2015.c170629/mksrf_landuse_histclm50_LUH2_1850.c170629.nc'
in the mksurfdata_map.namelist. I am wondering whether it makes sense to generate a finer resolution (say, 0.0625x0.0625 (5.2km) or 0.03125x0.03125 (2.6km)) vegetation dataset based on the rawdata which has a coarser resolution of 0.25x0.25 ? Or would the vegetation dataset in the finer grids be the same as the vegetation data in the coarse grid that covers these finer grids ?

Sincerely,

Yes, basically the vegetation dataset in the finer grids would be the same as the vegetation data in the coarse grid that covers these finer grids. There is a finer resolution (3 minute) pft dataset available by specifying -hirespft when using mksurfdata.pl, but I believe it's only for year 2000.
