I am a student of China. I am working on cam3 and want to know something about the initial
data-'cami_0000-09-01_64x128_L26_c030918.nc'.
can you tell me how you create the cami_0000-09-01_64x128_L26_c030918.nc?
do you get it from the model during it is running or create it by certain real data.
Is it a data of climate mean data or a certain time data?
I want to get a data with certain time . just like 2000-01-01. how can i create it ?

CAM3 initial data sets are generated from past runs if the resolution is the same and interpolated from an existing initial condition file if the resolution is differnt.
Utilities exist in the cam3 release distribution to interpolate datasets to non-standard reolutions.

In terms of generating atmospheric initial conditions for specific times, CAM is used for boundary value problems rather than initial value problems, as with most climate models, so an intial file that is date stamped at 01-01-2000 for example, usually refers to the model state forced with SST and insolation for that particular day.
