How to calculate zonal mean for POP/CICE output variables?

Hello there!

Does any one know how to calculate zonal mean for POP/CICE output variables?
Because the grid is not regular, there is not really a "zonal" or east-west direction in the grid. I appreciate any information / suggestions / ideas.

We have Fortran tools to do this as a part of the post-processing.

Cool! May I ask a following question? Is there any guide to use these scripts? I saw guid for processing using python but not fortran tools in the wiki in github.
