How to change surface radiation at night

Hello,

I am using a fully coupled CESM2.1.3 with a CAM6.0 to do some experiments. If I understand correctly, the CAM6.0 reads top of atmosphere solar radiation at each time step, and calculates the corresponding surface solar radiation (FSDS) at each grid cell. I want to change FSDS at nighttime time step, i.e. give extra radiation to some places at night. I was wondering how and where I can do that? I saw many subdirectories under /components/cam/src while not sure where I should make modifications. Thank you very much!

Eric, I think your best bet would be to make modifications in src/physics/rrtmg/radiation.F90 in the radiation_tend subroutine. Modifications could be made after the radiation calculations, somewhere around the call to radheat_tend. There should also be some clues in there about how to identify the nighttime vs. daytime columns.
