How to deal with the vertical therm error when using varied snow density

My case uses the CICE v5.1 that is coupled with HYCOM by ESMF.

In the model, I would like to test the impact of the varied snow density. In a control run, the density is constant (330).

In my experiment, the snow density will be randomly varied around 330.

So us, using the same initial sea icele, the model can try to use a different snow density. My question is how to deal with the model´s crash due to the vertical therm error.

It directly results from the ice_therm_vertical process. It looks reasonable because the initial ice state is set by a constant density, but the new density conflicts with the ice state.

Has someone more experienced overcome this issue?
