How to keep Barents Sea in a sea ice free state

Dear all,

I was thinking about doing some experiments with CESM1.2 testing Barents Sea ice cover sensitivity.
One test run is to simulate Barents Sea in an ice free state all year round.

Any thoughts how can I setup such run? Maybe keep the SST in Barents Sea always above freezing level in POP?
Or maybe by modifying some setup in CICE?

I think the best way is to use strong temperature restoring in POP, but make sure that the SST restored to in the Barents is well above the freezing point (-1.8C).

After I dig into the forum, from my understanding, I need to create a restoring file for POP which includes salinity, temperature and other necessary variables. And I have two following questions,

1. If I only restoring ocean temperature, will the salinity be affected ? Can POP nudge or calculate new salinity by itself?
2. Say, if I set atmosphere and land components in a colder climate e.g. LGM, then I do a POP restoring using present day condition,
how will this setup affect global energy balance or global water storage ? I have a feeling that the model will crash in such setup.
