How to remove the influence of the mountains in cam3.0

Using cam3.0,I want to study the influence of moutains on the waves by changing the low boundary condition.I made the change in the atmospheric component inintial date fields:PHIS=0.0.what else I need to do or that is enough?

Hi,
That is not enough, you will have to modify the boundary condition data-set accordingly. Be careful, only making PHIS=0.0 in initial file may not give you any error but the effect will die out within a few days as the initial condition does not last for a long time.

Must also remove effect of SGH by setting to 0. in dataset as well

You will probably also need to set the standard deviation SGH variables to zero for the relevant grid points as I think they used to diagnose the orographically generated gravity wave activity
