How to subset global datasets for regional runs

Dear all, I have ported CESM 1.2.2 to my desktop and I am running the case I20TRCRUCLM45BGC on CLM4.5 to look at methane emissions. So far the model have been running ok, but the problem is that this case runs on a global domain, and I want to look at the Amazon forest only. This case is uncoupled and uses the Qian climatic dataset. Instead of a global run, what I need to do is just run this same case over a smaller regional domain of my interest (let's say Amazon forest) to allow the simulation to run faster. What is the best way to do that? Should I subset the ATM and LND domain files? Should I subset the climatic dataset too (which is about 1TB)? Shoud I perform this subset operation using some script provided with CLM or can I use my own tools to subset the files? Many thanks,Thiago.

Dear Thiago,I am facing a similar issue. If you check my previous post, mknoocnmap.pl can be used to create a domian for a regional run. The tool has certian bug (I followed the instructions provided with the tool to create a regional run). Please let me know if you are able to create a regional run. Bassil
