Initializing a half degree spinup

I am using CTSM5.2 where I have modified PCT_CROP, PCT_NATVEG, PCT_CFT, FERTNITRO_CFT, PCT_SAND, PCT_CLAY, and nitrogen deposition. I will need to run half degree historical and future simulations where I am only interested in crop output. I believe I will need to run an 1850 spinup simulation before doing this. However, even if I relax the criteria of less than 3% of the land surface being in total ecosystem carbon disequilibrium, it seems this will still be very computationally expensive and take a long time to run. Is it possible to reduce the computation time by initializing this 1850 half degree spinup run with finidat, maybe with another spun up run at a different resolution?

Thanks,
Brendan

Sure. You could perform the spin-up at a lower resolution and then let the model interpolate the finidat file from the lower res to 0.5 degrees. This will work, and it is up to you whether this is scientifically acceptable for your work.
