Is it Possible to Run CAM-SE in Chemical Transport Mode?

Hello,A group of us are currently working on a targeted variable-resolution ensemble study over the California Sierra Nevada.  As such, we are trying to isolate some bias that might be propagating into our regionally refined results from the dycore, land-surface, micro-physics, etc. in CESM 1.2.2.  I was curious if it is possible to run CAM-SE in chemical transport mode (akin to the FV possibility highlighted in this study - http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1029/2011MS000106/full) and, if so, what is the appropriate compset? Here is an excerpt of their method..."The most important aspect is that both simulations have been performed in “chemical transport” mode, in which CAM fields are replaced by equivalent fields from the NCEP Re-analysis including horizontal winds, temperature, surface pressure, wind stress, sensible heat flux and water vapor flux. This mode of operation insures that the large-scale fields in CAM are fully consistent with a reanalysis for the actual meteorological conditions pertaining to our time series of rain gauge data."We would like to run with prescribed fields from either MERRA (1/2 degrees lat × 2/3 degrees lon - https://gmao.gsfc.nasa.gov/research/merra/intro.php) or NCEP CFSR (1/3 degree - http://rda.ucar.edu/datasets/ds093.1/).  Although we are slightly worried that the wind fields may be biased as the reanalysis products don't have a good represenation of topographic forcings (which is a focus of our study).  Any insights into an alternate reanalysis dataset that might help with this would be helpful too.If this isn't possible to run in CAM-SE, do you have any suggestions or helpful guides that could push us towards doing something like that? Thanks in advance for any insights!AR
