Lorenz energy cycle for CAM: APE, etc.

Has anyone calculated the traditional Lorenz four-box energetics -- Available Potential Energy and Kinetic Energy, each divided into Zonal-mean and Eddy components -- for a recent simulation by CAM? I understand this requires saving and processing a lot of high-frequency output and therefore is not attempted often.

I don't have a script for this but I know that some of the default history file output should aid you in this. Heat flux product product fields such as VT and OMEGAT are output by default
