Lost restart files - is it possible to continue the simulation as a hybrid run or a branch run??

Asking for an advice from CESM experts!!    I'm running CESM model 1.3 as a customized code with other than POP ocean model, with really high resolution, so it will take several months to replicate. While doing some backup + cleanup, I accidentally removed (insteat of moving) the restart files, those with *.r.* . Is it possible still somehow configure the model to continue the run, enven not bit-to-bit but close enough, by restarting from history files, maybe with some temporary code modification?? Does it need to be configured as "hybrid" run??Any suggestions are very welcome, and thank you in advance for any comments!
