Dear researchers who use CESM 1.3 ocean data,

Hello. I would like to ask some questions regarding the mixed-layer depth of CESM ocean data. First, how is the mixed-layer depth (HMXL) in CESM 1.3 defined? Second, has the mixed-layer depth undergone interpolation? Third, is the mixed-layer depth at each grid point the depth at the exact center of the T-cell?Additionally, a large portion of the mixed-layer depth values I retrieved for the subpolar North Atlantic region are zero. Could you please explain the reason for this?

For example, I have read a file named "B.E.13.BHISTC5.ne120_t12.sehires38.003.sunway.pop.h.HMXL.185001-0185912.nc". In this netCDF file, HMXL is recorded as the mixed-layer depth, with only its "long_name" attribute specified as 'Mixed-Layer Depth'.

Thank you all for your guidance. Best regards
