MPT ERROR: STDOUT or STDERR buffer exhausted

I am very new to Cheyenne and I have been working with the PALM model. I got this error whenever i run the model. It looks
like the amount of output text is more than the available memory. Please help!

MPT ERROR: STDOUT or STDERR buffer exhausted.
Set MPI_UNBUFFERED_STDIO=true or output no more than about 8192
characters between newlines.

It suggest that I set MPI_UNBUFFERED_STDIO=true. How can I make this setting on Cheyenne?
