The atmospheric initial conditions files currently used for the F_2000_WACCM (FW) compset are representative of the year 2000, but are not at steady state. Runs using these ICs will show a transient in CO2 as it is transported to the stratosphere.
New ICs are now available representing a spun-up atmosphere at steady state, appropriate for long-term runs. These atmospheric IC files will be included with the next release of CESM, and may be downloaded now at:

The respective ncdata files for 1.9x2.5° and 4x5° resolution are:
