Last month we released CESM 1.0.6, and today we have released CESM 1.2.2. It is highly recommended that all users use one of these two new versions when starting SC-WACCM runs. They have a number of fixes for problems in the default namelist, and some improvements to model stability. In addition, these two new versions of CESM contain the following new SC-WACCM compsets with active ocean:
  • B1850WSCCN: all active components, pre-industrial, WACCM with specified chemistry, CLM with CN
  • B55TRWSCCN: all active components, 1955 to 2005 transient, WACCM with specified chemistry and daily solar data, CLM with CN
  • BRCP26WSCCN: all active components, RCP2.6 future scenario, WACCM with specified chemistry, CLM with CN
  • BRCP45WSCCN: all active components, RCP4.5 future scenario, WACCM with specified chemistry, CLM with CN
  • BRCP85WSCCN: all active components, RCP8.5 future scenario, WACCM with specified chemistry, CLM with CN
CESM 1.0.6 does have an issue with the compset FWSC. However, even for this compset, it is recommended to use CESM 1.0.6 with a workaround, not CESM 1.0.5, because the workaround is much simpler and less error prone for CESM 1.0.6. The bug description and workaround are here:https://bb.cgd.ucar.edu/cesm106-fwsc-does-not-run-default-namelist
