Online float tracking?

I heard that online float tracking was being worked on or planned. What is the status of that? The timeline? We have a project requiring online and offline floats and I might have to use That Other Model if MOM6 doesn't have floats.

This is also a domain which would potentially benefit from wetting and drying. See MOM6 issue 235

I see there's a "drifters" file in src/MOM6/config_src/external/. Is that for particle/float tracking?
